ABOUT THE MUSIC ROOM

The Music Room offers private music lessons for all ages in the Greater Merrimack Valley area. We offer lessons for children and adults, beginner through advanced. Some students take lessons for the simple enjoyment of learning while others are determined to make a career out of music. We focus on assisting each student to develop a healthy musical technique and engage them creatively in their pursuit of repertoire in the styles of their choice.

MEET THE STAFF

The Music Room boasts an impressive roster of talented musicians, each classically trained and passionate about sharing their love of music with our students.

  • OWNER, VOICE, & PIANO

    AMANDA TESTA-OERTH

Amanda Elizabeth Testa-Oerth is a graduate from the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music program located at the Catholic University of America. There she studied voice, piano, and music education. After receiving her BM in 2013; Amanda performed and started teaching at private studios. Some of her favorite performing credits include Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Gertrude in Seussical, Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Second Spirit in Die Zauberflöte, and Chérubin in Chérubin. Despite loving to perform, Amanda’s true calling has been teaching. Opening the Music Room when she moved to MA in 2015, Amanda has worked for years sharing her love of music, building relationships, and creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals to work on their skills.  Amanda has continued to enhance her teaching and performance skills by attending pedagogy and musical style workshops and intensives through schools like Boston Conservatory and Shenandoah to better understand her instruments and serve her studio families.

  • VIOLIN

    CAROLINE JESALVA

I am a violinist at the New England Conservatory of Music, where I study violin performance with Nicholas Kitchen. I have 16 years of experience playing the violin, and 6 years of experience in music education, specifically working with children ages 3 - 12.  I have previously worked as a violin instructor at the Lamar Stringfield Music Camp, and began my own private violin studio. I am passionate about using the art of music as a medium to fully engage the mind and body in creativity: I teach traditional and Suzuki method, and incorporate music theory games and singing in my lessons to create a fun and engaging music experience. My philosophy is to shape music around the individual, to provide a multi-perspectival approach to music, and to tailor my teaching towards each student’s learning style, goals, and interests.
